UnlistMyInfo Updates

It’s been awhile since we last posted a blog article, so we thought it would be a good idea to send you some news and updates.

First of all, we’ve made a few updates to our site list on the following people search sites:

DirtyPhoneBook.com- Unfortunately, several users have brought it to our attention that the DirtyPhoneBook mailing address we had up on our site list was no longer working. So for now, the only way we know of to get in contact with them is by sending them an email at their info@dirtyphonebook.com address. Please let us know if you have any luck reaching them–we’ve sent several emails and they fail to respond every time.

LexisNexis.com- LexisNexis will comply with opt-outs if you are a person protected by law, including law enforcement officers, public officials, and elected officials. They may opt-out private individuals as well, if you meet certain criteria, such as people who are facing substantial risk of physical harm or who are victims of identity theft. These people may request to opt-out by providing documentation substantiating the risks of their information being avilable online. View the complete instructions on our site list, and then submit your opt-outs via this form.

LookupAnyone.com- We had a few users send us an updated fax number. If you’re trying to opt-out of LookupAnyone, be sure to fax a copy of your state-issued ID to 425-974-6242.

As always, we appreciate your feedback and site suggestions.

We encourage anyone who enjoys using our site to submit some feedback, or an additional site you think we should list (if it’s not there already). We try our best to review site suggestions as soon as they come in, but if you don’t see a site you recommend appear right away–rest assured, we’re just trying to find the most accurate opt-out info we can. We want to make sure the opt-out procedures a site provides actually work before posting it for all of our readers to see. Send your feedback or submissions to contact@unlistmy.info or fill out our contact form!

Check out our listing in MakeUseOf.com’s site directory.

We think it’s pretty cool that MakeUseOf.com added our site to their “Cool Sites Index.” Check out their write up on Unlist My Info here.

Updates to LookUp.com and LookupAnyone.com

Thanks to one of our readers for picking up on a couple of changes to Lookup.com and LookupAynone.com. We appreciate the help in keeping all of these instructions up-to-date!

In order to opt-out of LookUp.com, you will need to email a copy of your state-issued ID to optout@lookup.com (please cross out your photo and ID number). Please allow 4-6 weeks for them to process your request.

In order to opt-out of LookupAnyone.com, you will need to fax a copy of your state-issued ID (please cross out your photo and ID number) to 425-974-6194. Please allow 4-6 weeks for them to process your request.

Please let us know if you find any other updates or errors in our site list; we love the help!

Updates to MyLife and White Pages

We’ve been receiving a lot of emails lately with users having difficulty opting out of MyLife and White Pages. So, we’ve revisited these sites and their procedures. Here’s the updates:

Since MyLife has been posing all sorts of issues for our users, it seems that the simplest way to opt-out of this site is by contacting their customer service email or phone number. Send them an email at privacy@mylife.com or give them a call at 1-888-704-1900.

In order to opt-out of WhitePages.com, search for yourself here. Once your name shows up in the search results, click on the listing that you would like to remove. On the details page, scroll down to the bottom of the page (below the map). Click on the link that says “Is this you? Remove your listing.” You will be taken to the next page where you must verify the listing is the one you want to remove.

Please note: If you have already claimed your listing, you WILL NOT see the “Is this you? Remove your listing” link. You must edit your information upon logging into your account

Thanks Parade!

We would like to extend a big thank you to Parade magazine for mentioning us in this past Sunday’s issue! You can view it here if you missed it.

We’ve seen a HUGE influx in traffic to Unlist My Info and we’ve received a ton of emails filled with new sites and great suggestions. We’ve been trying our best to send each and every person a response, so if you haven’t gotten one yet, you should be receiving one very soon.

Along with the increase in visitors, we have also seen an increase in questions and sometimes confusion. We thought it would be a good idea to share with you some of the most frequently asked questions. Check them out in our new FAQ section!

New Site: How to Opt-Out of NumberGuru.com

Thanks to one of our visitors for keeping us posted on opting out of this site!

In order to opt-out of NumberGuru.com, we recommend sending an email to Support@BeenVerified.com. This is how a visitor recently reported he was able to opt-out of the site (though he did say it took countless emails and quite a few days).

Let us know if this works for you!

An Update on the MyLife.com Opt-Out

Thanks to Sarah from Abine for this update!

If you would like to remove your public listing from MyLife, return to your public profile using the Member Directory:

• Click the “This Is Me” link.

• Click the following link: “If you like to opt out of this service, click here.” (below the “YES, this is me!” button)

An electronic form will prompt you to verify personal information, contact information, and 2 former addresses. Fill out the form completely and select “submit form.” Once your request has been received, it may take up to 10 business days for your public profile to be removed from their database and Member Directory listings.

Updated Sites – Ameridex.com and DirtyPhoneBook.com

Ameridex.com used to have an opt-out page on their website. Unfortuntately, the page is no longer in order; you’ll have to send them a letter instead (thanks to an email from a vistor notifying us of this!). Here’s their address:

Ameridex
P.O. Box 193061
San Francisco, CA 94119-3051

DirtyPhoneBook.com still provides no clear instructions on opting out of their site. One of our visitors notified us that sending them an email does no good (we found this out ourselves too–after sending DirtyPhoneBook an email weeks ago, we’ve yet to yield a response). Instead, we now have their mailing address:

DPB
Attn: DMCA Complaints
340 S. Lemon Avenue
PO Box 6969
Walnut, CA 91789

If you have information on this site, we encourage you to send them a letter–hopefully if enough of us make some noise, they will adopt a clear opt-out policy in the future.

Thanks again to our visitor’s responses and tips!

18 New Sites Added to our Site List

Looks like we all have our work cut out for us today! Thanks to our visitor’s suggestions, and a lot of Google searching, we’ve managed to add 18 new sites to our site list.

AddressSearch.com – This is a fairly simple one; fill out the online opt-out form here, and you’re finished.

Ameridex.com- This is a pretty old, outdated looking site that actually charges people $.95 a search. They used to have a nice little opt-out form, just a few days ago actually, but that page currently seems to be broken. If you’re in a rush to opt-out of this one, they encourage you to mail in your request here: Ameridex, P.O. Box 193061, San Francisco CA 94119-3051.

Ancestry.com- We’ve had a lot of users suggest this one! In order to opt-out of Ancestry.com, you will have to send an email to customersolutions@ancestry.com including your email address, the URL address to the page in which the information appears, and which portion of the page you would like to have removed. You will then be asked to provide a government issued ID.

Archives.com- This is another site that has been suggested several times by our users. Luckily, the opt-out for Archives.com is as simple as filling out this form.

Aristotle.com- This site provides voter data for political organizations, campaigns, and governmental agencies. To opt-out, you will have to send an email to remove@aristotle.com asking to be removed from their databases.

InstantPeopleFinder.com- Here’s a simple one; just fill out their opt-out request form, available here.

Jigsaw.com- In order to opt-out of Jigsaw, search for yourself here to ensure you have a profile. If you do, you will be able to log in and set preferences on what information you would like to be public.

kgbpeople.com- To opt out of kgbpeople, send them a message via this online contact form.

LookUp.com- This is another easy one! Just fill out this quick opt-out form.

MerlinData.com- To opt-out of MerlinData, you will have to send them a message via this contact form including your full name, complete address, current telephone number, and date of birth.

PeopleSearchNow.com- In order to opt-out of PeopleSearchNow, you must send them a letter including your complete name, any aliases or AKAs, your complete current address, your previous addresses, and date of birth to: PeopleSearchNow.com/Opt-Out, P.O. Box 29502 #64729, Las Vegas, NV 89126-9502.

PublicBackgroundChecks.com- In order to opt-out of PublicBackgroundChecks, you must send them a letter including your complete name, any aliases or AKAs, your complete current address, your previous addresses going back 20 years, and date of birth to: Public Background Checks, 305 5th Avenue S, Suite 201, La Crosse, WI 54601.

PublicRecordsNow.com- In order to opt-out of PublicRecordsNow, you must send them a letter including your complete name, any aliases or AKAs, your complete current address, your previous addresses going back 20 years, and date of birth to: Opt-Out/PublicRecordsNow.com, P.O. Box 110850, Naples, Fl 34108.

RapLeaf.com- Opting out of RapLeaf is also a pretty simple one. Visit their opt-out page here.

ReversePhoneLookup.com- For ReversePhoneLookup, just fill out this quick opt-out request form, available here.

TopPeopleFinder.com- This is another easy one! Fill out their quick opt-out request form here.

Veromi.net- In order to opt-out of PublicRecordsNow, you must send them a letter including your complete name, any aliases or AKAs, your complete current address, your previous addresses going back 20 years, and date of birth to: Opt-Out/Veromi.net, 1821 Q Street, Sacramento, CA 95811.

ZoomInfo.com- In order to opt-out of ZoomInfo, email remove@zoominfo the link where your profile appears and they will investigate. ZoomInfo cannot fulfill your request unless you include the link to your profile, so be sure to include it in your email message.

Good luck opting out! As always, let us know if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions!

TRUSTe can assist in your quest to opt-out

Thanks to Jim from TRUSTe for sending us this information!

“If a site is TRUSTe certified, and their information is not taken down in a timely manner, we may be able to help. They can file a complaint here. Consumer complaints are a great way to make sure our licensees are doing the right thing, so we really want to know if the opt-outs aren’t working!

Just two things though:

1) Users should complain to us only if they’ve given the site a fair chance to respond to their opt-out first (we get a lot of complaints filed at the same time as the opt-out, and the information is removed by the time we look into it).

2) Users should include the exact URL of the profile in question (not just “remove my information from the internet”).”

It’s great to know that TRUSTe is willing to take action if these opt-outs fail to work.

UnlistMy.Info has a blog!

We’ve been working on making some improvements on the site over the weekend, per many of your great suggestions, and we thought that this blog would be the easiest way to keep you all in the loop!

The new sites (check out the instructions on our Site List page):

A few updates to existing sites:

MyLife.com - Thanks to Derek V. for sending us this tip! Apparently, opting out of MyLife is not as simple as sending them an email asking to be removed. Here’s the directions, via MyLife, Derek was kind enough to forward our way:

If you would like to remove your public listing from MyLife, return to your public profile using the Member Directory:

• Click the “This Is Me” link.

• Click the following link: “If you like to opt out of this service, click here.” (below the “YES, this is me!” button)

An electronic form will prompt you to verify personal information, contact information, and 2 former addresses.  Please fill out the form completely and select “submit form”. Once your request is received, it may take up to 10 business days for your public profile to be removed from our database and Member Directory listings.

Let us know if this works for you!

Spoke.com - Apparently Spoke doesn’t want us emailing them at opt-out@spoke any longer–thanks to a visitor’s email telling us they got a mailer daemon error when using that address.

If you’re in the mood to write a letter and buy a stamp, you may want to try the postal address they’ve provided:

Spoke Software, Inc.
Attn: Opt Out Requests
1670 South Amphlett Blvd., Suite 350
San Mateo, CA 94402

But, we think that’s a bit of a hassle, so you may want to instead try hitting them up via their contact form here.

Let us know if you have any luck with either of these methods!

Until next time, keep sending new sites, corrections, and feedback our way!
